Terms & Conditions Of Hire

CONDITIONS OF HIRE: It is understood and agreed by the hirer that all items hired are subject to the following conditions:

  1. The hire charge shall be shown on the agreement invoice.

  2. Any Applicable carriage charges shall be paid for by the hirer.

  3. No Hire goods will be guarenteed or booked until the full hire payment is made and received by Masquerade.

  4. All items remain the property of “Masquerade Costume & Events”

  5. All items hired shall be the responsibility of the named person on the invoice whilst on hire.

  6. Any loss or damage whilst on hire shall be paid for by the hirer, at the rate determined by Masquerade.

  7. All items will be returned by the “Hire End Date” showing on agreement invoice. Failure to return the goods by the stated date shall incur excess charges at the hire rate agreed by Masquerade.

  8. Should loss occur during the hire period or during the return, it is the responsibility of the hirer to inform Masquerade as soon as possible. The hirer is responsible for full loss or claim.

  9. The hirer is responsible for ensuring goods are packed and returned in a safe and secure way.

  10. It is advised that you use an insured method of carriage through your local post office or a courier company. Any loss of hire goods will result in the replacement cost being charged.

  11. The hiring of items will be to the person or company named on the agreement invoice and to no other.

  12. Unless otherwise agreed, full hire payment will be paid in advance to secure the hire goods for the agreed dates.

  13. A security deposit shall be held against all items hired. This value will be shown on the hire agreement / invoice. The deposit will not be charged unless loss, damage or late return charges apply. In such cases the deposit details held may be used to regain the replacement value if the hirer does not cover the charge invoiced by Masquerade. The deposit will be refunded on return of the hire goods, subject to the conditions of hire. DEPOSITS DO NOT COVER FULL VALUE OF LOSS, THEFT OR REPLACEMENT All deposit information will be destroyed upon hire end in line with the data protection act.

  14. Where it has been agreed with a company, school or business that Masquerade will accept a Purchase order to reserve hire goods, full cleared payment MUST be made prior to the hire start date. Failure to make payment in full may result in non delivery of hire goods.   

  15. On cancelled orders, no refunds will be made unless 7 working days notice is given prior to the collection date. Orders placed & cancelled within the 7 days forfeit the right to any refund.  

  16. Any such cancelled orders outside of 7 days will be entitled to a refund less a 50% charge per costume / item to defray costs.
  17. Cancellations must be made in writing, or by email by the named person on the hire agreement only. Cancellations will not be accepted by a third party. Any Refunds made will be to the named perosn on the hire agreement only and to the card or bank account that original hire payment was made from.

  18. Alterations & Cancellations to any order will be liable to a charge of 50% +vat per costume or item such as, Wigs, Shoes & Accessories, to defray costs. This will be deducted from any refund due.

  19. Wig Hire Cancellation: All wig hire bookings carry the same conditions of hire as stated above. The standard Cancellation clause is applicable up to the value of 5 wigs: any large wig orders cancelled over the quantity of 5 wigs forfeit the right to any refund due to the time and work required to set & prepare them. Any such cancelled orders will only be offered a re-Date to the order. 

  20. Masquerade will not be held responsible for any hire items such as Costumes, Wigs or Footwear being unsuitable, or for any items fitting incorrectly due to incorrect size information being issued.

  21. It is the hires responsibility to use the Hire goods fit for the purpose intended, and no liability will rest with Masquerade for misuse or unsuitability that may result in injury or claim.

  22. Masquerade will not refund on any hire orders due to unsuitability or fit which may result in the hire goods being unworn / unused to include costumes, wigs and footwear.

  23. ADW: We offer accidental damage insurance on all hires at £4.00 per costume. This insurance is optional on individual hires. A compulsory insurance charge will be added to all show / corporate orders to cover against accidental damage at the rate from £20.00 per order.  This will cover the hirer up to the value of £40 per costume and covers small drink stains, food stains, makeup marks, broken zips, minor damage to hems, cleanable and mendable repairs. ADW DOES NOT COVER, LOSS, THEFT, MISUSE CAUSING PERMANENT DAMAGE TO ANY GOODS, WIGS { CUTTING OR HEATED APPLIANCES ARE PROHIBITED ON ALL WIGS} REPLACEMENT COST to any hire items.

  24. Any damage to any hired items during the hire period will be assessed upon return of the goods and charged accordingly if necessary. 

  25. Masquerade reserves the right to refuse or cancel a hire, if the hirer does not wish to comply with our terms of business / terms and conditions of hire or at any point gives the staff of Masquerade cause for concern. Refusal to comply with Masquerades terms of hire will result in your order being cancelled.

  26. Postponed / Re-dated orders:

    At the discretion of Masquerade any such order that means a function or event may be postponed or re-dated due to unforeseen circumstances, eg: Weather, Ill Health, may be re-dated for up to 6 months from the original hire collection date shown on the hire agreement/invoice, dependant on the availability of the original items booked. The hirer forfeits any normal rights to cancellation or refund on re-dated orders. Only ONE re-date will be offered per order, thereafter normal hire charges & conditions will apply

  27. Mail Order Hire: Any such orders booked and paid for over the phone for delivery are bound by all above conditions of hire made by Masquerade once hire payment and booking has been made. Any alterations to your order must put into writing. All Cancellation & postponed conditions apply to all orders. Mail orders shipping charges are the responsibility of the hirer. Goods must only be shipped back to the business address shown on the hire agreement. Drop points are forbidden and will incur extra charges.
  28. It is important that you observe that as the hirer using a mail order service, you accept full responsibility of the hire goods until the goods arrive back with Masquerade, to include being responsible for all goods during their return journey to us. This includes loss of goods where a courier service you have chosen to use looses such items / order. The responsibility falls with the hirer to locate, track, and correspond with such courier & make any claim if required. The hirer is also responsible in such case for covering any replacement charge for such loss of goods that is stated by Masquerade. 

  29. Phone Bookings & Contactless Costume Hire Bookings: Any such orders placed over the phone to book and reserve goods are made at the customers own choice. All above conditions of hire are applicable once payment and booking has been made to Masquerade.

  31. Bespoke Orders : In such cases of bespoke orders where goods have been made to special order to hire or purchase. We do not offer any refund once an Order is finalised and paid for or the goods are either in process of construction or ordered from suppliers. 
  32. COVD-19 CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:

    ALL BOOKINGS MADE ARE SUBJECT TO THIS ADDITIONAL CONDITION OF HIRE FOR CANCELLATIONS THAT MAY OCCUR DUE TO COVID-19. APPLICABLE TO ALL IN-STORE BOOKINGS AND MAIL ORDER HIRE BPOOKINGS.

    • ANY CANCELLATIONS MADE DUE TO OR SURROUNDING COVID-19 ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY REFUNDS UNLESS COVERED BY OUR STANDARD CANCELLATION CONDITIONS OF HIRE. { PLEASE SEE ABOVE ITEMS 14 -17 OR REFER TO YOUR HIRE AGREEMENT FOR OUR STANDARD TERMS OF HIRE & CANCELLATION }
    • OUR STANDARD CANCELLATION CLAUSE WILL AUTOMATICALLY APPLY AND BE IMPLEMENTED UP TO THE 7 WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO ANY COLLECTION / SHIPPING DATE.
    • DURING THE 7 WORKING DAYS LEADING TO THE COLLECTION / SHIPPING DATE, ANY CANCELLATIONS DUE TO COVID-19 WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY REFUND, BUT MASQUERADE WILL OFFER A REDATE OF YOUR ORDER WITH A 24 MONTH EXTENSION TIMESCALE, OR WE MAY OFFER A CREDIT NOTE FOR THE FULL VALUE OF YOUR ORDER, VALID FOR UP TO A 12 MONTH PEROD.
    • ANY REDATED ORDERS THAT MAY RESULT IN FULL CANCELLATION WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY FULL OR PART REFUND OF ANY NATURE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MAIL ORDERS WHERE WE WILL ONLY REFUND ANY SHIPPING / CARRIAGE CHARGES PAID BY THE HIRER. ANY SUCH CHARGES WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL.
    • ANY COSTUME CHANGES MADE TO A REDATED ORDER MAY BE LIABEL FOR A SMALL CHARGE. MASQUERADE WILL NOT REFUND ANY LESSER DIFFERENCE ON ALTERED GOODS.
    • ANY REDATED ORDERS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY 
    • IN SUCH AN INSTANCE A MAIL ORDER HAS BEEN SHIPPED AND THE HIRER THEN CANCELS /  POSTPONES DUE TO COVID, THE HIRER WILL NEED TO SHIP THE COSTUME BACK IMMEDIATELY TO MASQUERADE AND ALTHOUGH WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO A REFUND, MASQUERADE WILL OFFER A REDATE ON THE ORDER.
